Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (IATA: MHT, ICAO: KMHT, FAA LID: MHT) is 5 kilometers south of the central business district of Manchester, New Hampshire, United States. It is located on the border of Hillsborough and Rockingham counties. The airport lies in two communities, Manchester and Londonderry.

The facility has 15 gates. Everything you need is within walking distance of the airport, including ticketing, baggage claim, flight connections, ground transportation area, and parking.

History of Manchester-Boston Regional Airport

Its history dates back as far as 1927 when the Board of Mayor and Aldermen began the development of Manchester airport.

In June of the same year, Charles A. Lindbergh flew over Manchester in his Spirit of St. Louis, two months after his historic solo flight across the Atlantic. A few months later, the Manchester Board of Aviation and Recreation approved the construction of an airport on an 84-acre tract of land near Pine Island Pond.

In 1933, its first passenger terminal opened and played host to the famous aviator Amelia Earhart. Seven years later, the U.S. War Department chose the facility as an Army Air Corps Base.

Few years later, the airport was renamed Grenier Field by the War Department to honor Manchester native Lt. Jean B. Grenier, who died in a training mission in 1934.

A new passenger terminal opened at Manchester Airport named after Roscoe A. Ammon in 1961. Seventeen years later, Grenier Field/Manchester Municipal Airport was officially renamed Manchester Airport.

In 1984, United Airlines began jet service at the facility. The second Ammon terminal addition was completed in 1991.

By 1994, a new passenger terminal opened at Manchester Airport with a modern facility, including seven jet gates and five regional gates; three baggage carousels; a choice of restaurants; an international newsstand; and ample, inexpensive short and long-term parking near the terminal.

Three years later, the airport surpassed one million passengers for the first time. A six-level parking garage was also opened in 1999.

In 2006, the airport was officially renamed Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

The busiest domestic routes from MHT in 2020 include Baltimore, Maryland, Charlotte, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Orlando, Florida, Chicago–Midway, Illinois, Chicago–O'Hare, Illinois, Washington–Dulles, D.C., Washington–National, and Tampa, Florida.

Manchester Boston Airport has two asphalt runways and covers an area of 1,300 acres with annual passenger traffic of nearly 1.7 million in 2019. It sits 81 meters above sea level at 42°55′57″N and 071°26′08″W.
